About Colin Wheeler

Colin Wheeler has worked in the network planning departments at seven airlines, and the air service development department at one airport, during his lengthy aviation career. He has held a variety of increasingly responsible positions, ranging from Manager of Route Planning at American Airlines, Director of Market Planning at TWA, Director of Capacity Planning at Alaska Airlines, Assistant VP of Air Service Development at Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport, to VP of Long Term Schedule Planning at AeroMexico.

Colin`s expertise is in airline route and network planning, traffic and revenue forecasting, network design, flight scheduling, bank structure optimization, fleet planning, profitability analysis, revenue management, Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG) and Essential Air Service (EAS) contract negotiation, and airport air service development. He has supervised teams of up to nine people, and has collaborated closely with other departments such as Crew Planning, Revenue Management, Flight Operations, Station Operations, Maintenance, and Sales.

Colin is very familiar with airline demand and capacity data sources, such as MIDT, DB1B, OAG, T-100, and Form 41

Colin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Lewis and Clark College (´85), and a Master of Science degree in Transportation from the University of Washington (´87).

Colin is a long time member of the Transportation Research Board´s Aviation Economics and Forecasting Committee, and he has been a member of the paper review sub committee for several years.

Colin received his Private Pilot Certificate from the FAA in 1993.
